Waltham Forest HC Club/Badge History
West Essex HC amalgamated with Wanstead HC in 1974/75.
Wanstead HC relocated to become Waltham Forest HC in 1989 with the move to astroturf.
The club badge was designed and hand drawn in 1989 by ex-Wanstead HC/Waltham Forest player Paul Lidbury. This was when Waltham Forest HC was formed from Wanstead HC.
Elements of the badge explained
Red Rose of The Hockey Association.
Blue Shield of the Essex County Association.
White stag and the shield/oak trees are taken from the Borough of Waltham Forest coat of arms, with the stag wearing the red and gold colours of West Essex HC around the neck.
Heron, wearing blue and white around the neck, the emblem and colours of Wanstead HC, and also part of the coat of arms of the Borough of Wanstead and Woodford.
Over the years, the badge became digitalised with the grass pitch changing to astroturf and wooden hockey sticks changing to composite.
In the mid-2000s the Essex County shield turned from blue to red.
